Humantay

Meltwater from glaciated Apu Humantay forms Lake Humantay in the Vilcabamba mountain range. Microalgae make the water appear turquoise. An overwhelming high mountain landscape!Humantay

Geographical location

123 km northwest of Cusco (paved road from Cusco to Mollepata: 98.5 km, dirt road from Mollepata to Soraypampa: 22 km, hiking trail from Soraypampa to the lake: 2.5 km).

Altitude

4200 m.

Climate

Dry season from April to November: temperate during the day and very cold at night and in the early morning. Rainy season from December to March: overcast skies and rainy.
