Moray
Terraces with retaining walls in large natural depressions up to 150 m
deep. The concentrically arranged, approximately 1,80 m high terraces give
the impression of a gigantic amphitheater. A complex system of artificial
irrigation canals enclosing all terraces indicates agricultural use. The
large temperature difference of up to 15 ºC from the upper edge to the
lowest point creates its own microclimate for each terrace. It is
therefore believed that the site was an important agricultural laboratory
for the Incas.
